Keke Palmer Joins FOX’s ‘Grease: Live’ as a Pink Lady

Hot off of her Broadway debut in Cinderella , actress Keke Palmer has been cast in FOX’s forthcoming Grease: Live musical special as one of the Pink Ladies.

She’ll be playing Marty Maraschino, originally portrayed by Dinah Manoff in the classic 1978 film.

So far, the show has cast Vanessa Hudgens as Betty Rizzo (originally Stockard Channing ) and Julianne Hough as Sandy Olse ( Olivia Newton-John in the original).

Synopsis:

After enjoying a holiday romance, high school students Danny and Sandy are unexpectedly reunited when she transfers to Rydell High, where she must contend with cynical Rizzo and the Pink Ladies.

Rumored roles include Newton-John a Principal McGee, Nick Jonas as Johnny Casino, Billy Magnussen as Sandy’s love interest Danny Zuko, and Martin Short as Coach Calhoun.

Written by Warren Casey along with Jim Jacobs , who penned the original musical, and directed by Thomas Kail and Alex Rudzinski , the show is set to air on FOX on January 31, 2016. It is being produced by Paramount Television.

Palmer previously played the part of Rozonda ‘Chilli’ Thomas in VH1’s CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story , had a recurring role in Showtime’s Masters of Sex , and will be starring in Ryan Murphy ‘s upcoming horror-comedy anthology Scream Queens , also on FOX.
