The Fall/Winter 2015 project features artwork and graphic designs by NYC contemporary artist Todd James, American photographer-director Cass Bird, contemporary Japanese artist Mr., and Iraqi-British architect Zaha Hadid.
“I would venture to say that Zaha Hadid is one of the most talented architects of our time and of history in my opinion,” said Pharrell, who handpicked each artist. “I think that Zaha’s designs are just like her buildings, they augment reality forever. With the Supershell she created, using the iconic Shelltoe of the shoe, I feel like she used dimensions of what already exists, and cast shadows that weren’t necessarily there.”
The artists’ designs are combined with six of Pharrell’s very own artworks that “explore life force and energy and its relationship with color” on simple black and white canvases. Each left and right shoe features a different graphic treatment.
The collection will be available online and at retail stores on August 7, 2015.
