Dancing on the Edge , a 2013 BBC television drama about a black jazz band in London in the early 1930s, has finally released to DVD and Blu-ray in North America as of May 5, 2015.

Written and directed by Stephen Poliakoff , the brilliant mini-series stars Academy Award nominated actor Chiwetel Ejiofor ( Half of a Yellow Sun ), Matthew Goode ( The Good Wife ), Angel Coulby ( Merlin ), John Goodman ( The Gambler ), Anthony Head ( Merlin ), Nigerian-born British actress Wunmi Mosaku ( In The Flesh ), and Jacqueline Bisset .

“Made up of talented musicians and managed by the compassionate yet short-tempered Wesley Holt ( Ariyon Bakare ), the band gets a gig at the Imperial Hotel, by the way of the cunning journalist, Stanley Mitchell (Goode). They prove to be a hit, and become a success at the hotel. Countless aristocrats—and the Royal Family—ask the band to play at parties.

The media rush to interview and photograph the band—including the ambitious American businessman, Walter Masterson (Goodman) and his enthusiastic employee, Julian. The band’s success spirals, they’re being offered record deals. But tragedy strikes, setting off a chain of events that may wreck the band’s career.”

Airing on BBC Two between February and March 2013, Dancing on the Edge was picked up for broadcast in the U.S. by Starz.

The series won Best Miniseries or Television Film at the Satellite Awards, and was nominated for three awards at the 2014 Golden Globe Awards. Bisset won Best Supporting Actress in a Series, Mini-Series or TV Movie.

Ejiofor won a Black Reel Award for Outstanding Actor, TV Movie or Mini-Series and Broadcasting Press Guild Award for Best Actor.
