The intense romantic chemistry between Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Belle) and Nate Parker (The Great Debaters) in Beyond The Lights (my absolute favorite film for 2014) will hit VOD, DVD and Blu-Ray starting February 24th.

Written and directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood (Love and Basketball), the drama centers on Noni (Gugu), a crumbling superstar and Kaz (Nate), a young cop and aspiring politician, who fall fast and hard despite outside pressure to focus on their careers.

Also starring Minnie Driver, Danny Glover and rapper Machine Gun Kelly, the film has been praised not only for its smart direction and Gugu’s powerhouse performance, but also its refreshing delivery of a formulaic storyline.

The Blu-Ray will include special features, such as audio commentary from the director with cinematographer Tami Reiker and editor Terilyn Shropshire, deleted scenes, the “Masterpiece” music video, a “Changing the Conversation” feature, as well as “Escape to Mexico 2.1,” and “Gary Theard: Boom Man” featurettes.

Beyond The Lights premiered at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival on September 7, 2014 and theatrically in the U.S. on November 14, 2014.

The film was produced by Stephanie Allain, the director’s husband Reggie Rock Bythewood, and Ryan Kavanaugh.

It was distributed to U.S. theaters by Relativity Media and to VOD/DVD/Blu-Ray by 20th Century Fox. Sookie Pictures, which handles its South Korea theater release will also distribute to all other media.
