A re-imagining of Bill Gunn‘s Ganja & Hess (1973), Da Sweet Blood of Jesus is an experimental “new kind of love story” starring Stephen Tyrone Williams as Dr. Hess Green and Zaraah Abrahams as Ganja Hightower.

Dr. Green becomes “cursed by a mysterious ancient artifact and is overwhelmed with a newfound thirst for blood,” though he is not a vampire. “Soon after his transformation he enters into a dangerous romance with Gangja that questions the very nature of love, addiction, sex, and status in our seemingly sophisticated society.”

The cast is rounded out by Rami Malek (Mr. Robot), Elvis Nolasco (American Crime), Thomas Jefferson Byrd (Ray), Joie Lee (Coffee and Cigarettes), Felicia “Snoop” Pearson (The Wire), and Jeni Perillo (Da Brick).
