BET ‘s Being Mary Jane two-hour season finale on February 25, 2014 delivered more than 5.8 million viewers, making it the #1 new drama series on all cable among adults 18-49 and women 18-49.

The first hour brought in more than 2.6 million viewers, while the second hour garnered 3.2 million viewers.

The explosive season finale serves as the series’ best performing episode in its history, even outperforming its premiere debut on January 7, 2014 (4+ million viewers). It also saw an uptick in activity on Twitter with a 179% increase in tweets from the previous episode.

Additionally, during February 2014, the top 5 weeknight cable drama premiere telecasts have all been dominated by Being Mary Jane .

Created by Mara Brock Akil ( The Game ) and executive produced and directed by Salim Akil ( Jumping the Broom ), Being Mary Jane stars Gabrielle Union , Lisa Vidal , Margaret Avery , Richard Roundtree , Omari Hardwick , and Robinne Lee .

The series centers on successful talk show host Mary Jane Paul (Union), who is searching for “Mr. Right” while trying to balance her professional and messy private life.

A pilot for the series aired July 2, 2013 and the show was picked up for a second season on September 12, 2013 before the season 1 premiere.
