Watch: First Clip of André 3000’s Jimi Hendrix Biopic, ‘All Is by My Side’

With its U.S. debut at SXSW 2014 right around the corner, a clip from the Jimi Hendrix biopic Jimi: All Is By My Side , starring Outkast ‘s André 3000 (André Benjamin), has finally surfaced online.

In the video, Hendrix is excited about going to Monterey and attempts to flirt with Linda Keith (Imogen Poots), onetime girlfriend of Keith Richards, who inspired songs by both men.

Written, directed and executive produced by John Ridley ( 12 Years A Slave ), the film covers a year in the life of the legendary guitarist, when he was an unknown backup musician playing New York’s Cheetah Club to making his mark in London’s music scene up until his Monterey Pop triumph.

The film was shot in Ireland and premiered at the em> 2013 Toronto International Film Festival in September of last year.

It also stars Hayley Atwell ( Captain America: The First Avenger ), Irish actress Ruth Negga ( World War Z ), and American actor Burn Gorman ( Pacific Rim ).

Although no release date has been set, Open Road is distributing the film.

All Is By My Side will be screening at SXSW in Austin, Texas on March 12th at 9pm at Paramount Theatre (713 Congress Ave).
