Pharrell, Alicia Keys & Kendrick Lamar Team Up for ‘Amazing Spider-Man 2′ Soundtrack

Pharrell Williams , Alicia Keys , Kendrick Lamar , Hans Zimmer , and The Neighbourhood are just some of the artists who will lend their musical talents to the multi-genre soundtrack for Amazing Spider-Man 2 , which hits theaters on May 2, 2014.

R&B and hip hop fans should rejoice, due to Kendrick and Alicia teaming up on the Pharrell-produced “It’s On Again.”

“I’m very excited to be a part of such a powerful collaboration with Kendrick Lamar, Pharrell Williams and Hans Zimmer. his is the next chapter in the ‘Spider-Man’ legacy and we really feel ‘It’s On Again’ captures the experience, the story — and most importantly — the meaning behind the film, which is that we all have the potential to be extraordinary. There’s a little bit of a super hero in all of us.”

The film’s director, Marc Webb went on to add:

“We were looking for just the right song to close out the film — a song that would be upbeat and exciting, but also contain a note of foreboding. Alicia’s song, ‘It’s On Again,’ is the perfect end note. For the overall score, I’m so amazed by what Hans Zimmer and the Magnificent Six were able to achieve with the music in the film. Every director wants his movie to have a unique sound, but this is beyond unique. It’s completely unlike any movie score that’s come before.”

The film’s score itself was helmed by famed German musical composer and producer Hans Zimmer, who has received four Grammy Awards, three Classical BRIT Awards, two Golden Globes, and an Academy Award for his works, which are notable for integrating electronic music sounds with traditional orchestral arrangements.

For the film, he worked with the Magnificent Six: Pharrell, Incubus’ Mike Einzinger, Johnny Marr, Junkie XL, Andrew Kawczynski and Steve Mazzaro .

Some of Hans’ films scores include Gladiator , Sherlock Holmes, the Pirates of the Caribbean series, The Dark Knight Rises and The Lion King . Thoughts?
