Dreamworks’ ‘Home’

After making her official film debut in the film Battleship , Rihanna has decided to expand her acting chops into animation.

The pop star and fashion icon stars in Dreamworks’ upcoming 3D computer-animated comedy film Home , which is scheduled to be released on March 27, 2015.

Based on the 2007 Adam Rex ‘s children’s book The True Meaning of Smekday , it follows an overly optimistic, alien race named Boov, led by Captain Smek, who invades Earth to hide from their mortal enemy and make it a new home.

Convinced they are doing a favor, they begin to relocate the human race, but one resourceful girl, Tip (played by Rihanna), manages to avoid capture.

When on the run, she is accompanied by a banished Boov, named Oh, who has accidentally notified the enemies of his whereabouts.

The film also stars the Big Bang Theory ‘s Jim Parsons as the alien Oh, Jennifer Lopez as Tip’s mom, and Steve Martin as Captain Smek, the leader of the Boov race.

In addition to her voice role, Rihanna and her team created a concept album for the film, which will feature 12 original songs. Take a look at the first trailer below:
