2013 BBC mini series Dancing on the Edge and Dee Rees ‘ 2011 film Pariah are just two of the award-winning titles arriving on Netflix in August 2015 .
Dancing on the Edge , a brilliant TV drama about a black jazz band in London in the early 1930s, stars Academy Award nominated actor Chiwetel Ejiofor ( Half of a Yellow Sun ), Matthew Goode ( The Good Wife ), Angel Coulby ( Merlin ), John Goodman ( The Gambler ), Anthony Head ( Merlin ), Wunmi Mosaku ( In The Flesh ), and Jacqueline Bisset .
The series won Best Miniseries or Television Film at the Satellite Awards, and was nominated for three awards at the 2014 Golden Globe Awards. Bisset won Best Supporting Actress in a Series, Mini-Series or TV Movie.
Ejiofor won a Black Reel Award for Outstanding Actor, TV Movie or Mini-Series and a Broadcasting Press Guild Award for Best Actor. Netflix premiere: August 1, 2015.
Starring Adepero Oduye ( 12 Years a Slave ), Kim Wayans ( Reckless ), and Aasha Davis ( The Unwritten Rules ), Pariah tells the story of a 17-year-old teenager embracing her identity as a lesbian.
The film premiered at the
2011 Sundance Film Festival
where it won the Excellence in Cinematography Award.
