Watch: Machine Gun Kelly Launches “First Strike” from ‘Black Flag’ Mixtape
Aided by Winston Churchill‘s June 1940 speech commonly known as “We shall fight on the beaches,” rapper Machine Gun Kelly is preparing fans for his Black Flag era.
Though the release of an actual studio album typically defines a musical period for most artists, the mixtape scene was a career-launching stomping ground for Kellz.
He released five free projects prior to his October 2013 Bad Boy debut, Lace Up, which has sold 178,000 copies as of March 24, 2013.

“…We shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be. We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender. We shall never surrender. We shall never surrender.”
Black Flag was scheduled for an April 2013 release, and since that didn’t happen, we can assume it will be out sometime after the “final strike.” There are a total of 9.
With the announcement of the mixtape in February 2013, MGK debuted the official music video for “Champions,” featuring Diddy. As of June 2013, the video has reached 1.9 million views.
The EP’s first single titled “Peso,” produced by Burd & Keyz and featuring Pusha T and Meek Mill, premiered on May 22, 2013.
Other appearances on the set include Wiz Khalifa, Chevy Woods, French Montana, and Sleeping With Sirens. Count down to the next strike at mgklaceup.com.
