Not that many noticed due to all the VMAs backlash, but Miley Cyrus has released the official second single from her highly-anticipated upcoming fourth studio album Bangerz .
Entitled “ Wrecking Ball ,” the song was produced by Dr. Luke, and I love it. I don’t know what it is about Miley’s voice when she does ballads or mid-tempo songs, but it really sends me to a happy place.
Overcome with heartbreak she sings, “I came in like a wrecking ball / Yea, I just closed my eyes and swung / Left me crouching in a blaze and fall / All you ever did was wreck me…”
Not only is this song the perfect followup to the summer smash “We Can’t Stop,” it’s also a great blend of dubstep and soft rock, with elements of electro-pop. The song is also now available to purchase on iTunes when you pre-order the album.
Miley also unveiled the 80s/Miami Vice inspired cover arts for the standard and deluxe editions of the album, which will both be released on October 8, 2013 under RCA records.
According to a few friends of mine, the standard edition of the album will feature 12 tracks, while the deluxe will feature 16.
Though there isn’t much information about the record yet, the singer has worked with Pharrell Williams, Mike WiLL Made It, Dr. Luke, Future and Nelly — just to name a few.
