A gripping official trailer has surfaced for Sundace darling Fruitvale Station, which tells the story of 22-year-old Oscar Grant, killed by a BART police officer in 2009.
The film has been raking in accolades, starting with winning both the Grand Jury Prize among dramatic films and the Audience Award for U.S. dramatic film at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, and director Ryan Coogler will be honored by the Sundance Institute in June along with the late Roger Ebert.
Produced by actor Forest Whitaker, Fruitvale stars Michael B. Jordan (Friday Night Lights/Parenthood), Oscar-winning actress Octavia Spencer (The Help), and Chad Michael Murray (One Tree Hill).
Set to hit select theaters on July 12th with nationwide roll out on July 26th, the film will compete at the Cannes Film Festival this month in the “Un Certain Regard” category, which features films that present “a certain glance or a particular outlook.”
