For a fifth consecutive week Lorde rules the Billboard Hot 100 chart with her breakout single “ Royals “ .
The song serves as the lead single from her The Love Club EP, which was released on March 8, 2013 and debuted at #23 on the 200 Albums chart with sales of 60,000 copies, as well as her debut studio album “ Pure Heroine , which was released on September 27, 2013.
Proving to be more successful than the EP, Pure Heroine debuted at #3 on the 200 Albums chart with sales of 129,000 copies.
The song returns to the top of the Hot Digital Songs chart and earns a second week atop the Hot 100 Airplay chart with a 3% gain to 171 million audience impressions.
Over on the On-Demand Songs chart, it sits at #1 with 2.6 million on-demand U.S. streams.
Coming in at #2 this week is Katy Perry ‘s “ Roar ,” which also rises from #4 to #3 on the Streaming Songs chart up 13% with 6.8 million streams.
At #3 for a third week is Miley Cyrus ‘ “ Wrecking Ball ,” which manages to return to #1 on the Streaming Songs chart for a fifth cumulative frame, while it manages to remain at #5 on the Hot Digital Songs chart.
Remaining at #4 is Avicii ‘s feel good song “ Wake Me Up , ” which reaches a new height on the Hot 100 Airplay chart by rising to #2, and jumps up 2 spots on the Hot Digital Songs chart to #2 as well.
The song leads the Dance/Electronic Songs for an eighth week and becomes the DJ’s first #1 on the Mainstream Top 40 radio airplay chart.
Closing out the Top 5 this week is Drake ‘s “ Hold On, We’re Going Home ,” featuring Majid Jordan . For a fifth week each however, it manages to rule the Hot R&B/Hip Hop Songs and R&B Songs.
Rounding out the rest of the Top 10 we have Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake ‘s “ Holy Grail “ at #6, while Lady Gaga’ s “ Applause “ rises from #9 to #7 this week.
OneRepublic ‘s “ Counting Stars “ serves as one of two new Top 10 entries this week, jumping from #15 to #8, giving it the top Digital Gainer award.
It also jumps from, #9 to #4 on the Hot Digital Songs with a 48% gain to 152,000, its best sales week, and soars from #22 to #13 on the Streaming Songs chart.
Rising from #12 to #9 this week and serving as the second new Hot 100 Top 10 entry is Imagine Dragons ‘ “ Demons .”
It concurrently reaches the top 10 on Hot 100 Airplay and Adult Top 40 charts, and spends a 21st week in the Alternative top 10 after peaking at #2 in August.
“Demons ” serves as the band’s second Top 10 Hot 100 hit from it’s debut studio album Night Visions , following the #3 peaking “Radioactive,” which still manages to remain in the top 20 at #16 during it’s 61st week on the chart.
At #10 is Ylvis ‘ “ The Fox ,” falling four spots down from its #6 peak. Thoughts?
