Oprah Winfrey Dons Glorious 3.5 Pound Afro on O Magazine Cover

O Magazine September 2013

Good lawd that’s alotta hair! O Magazine ‘s best cover in its 13-year run features Oprah channeling a little Diana Ross mixed with a little Chaka Khan for the September 2013 issue.

Instead of a focus on the next season of fashion, the media queen is dedicating the publication to all things hair and how to “grow it,” “blow it,” and “awesomely ‘fro it” — among other tips.

The 3.5 pound mane, styled by hair guru Andre Walker , is roughly the same weight as a small chihuahua.

Oprah glows in makeup by Derrick Rutledge , luxurious De Grisogono jewelry, a bright orange dress, and gold Jimmy Choo pumps.

As for wigless Oprah, apparently she’s been choosing more natural styles for her own hair — using very little relaxer these days as well as Walker’s Gold System , which is formulated for kinky and curly hair (and surprisingly not as expensive as I thought it would be).
