Amanda Bynes is finding herself in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. She’s emerged as the latest former child star following the classic playbook for self-destruction.
Need proof that Bynes is joining the ranks of Gary Coleman, Lindsay Lohan and Danny Bonaduce ? What hasn’t she done to earn that reputation might be a more accurate question to ask.
Trouble With the Law
Bynes is a menace to cars everywhere when she gets behind the wheel. She proved as much after hitting three different vehicles over a four-month span in 2012.
The first incident occurred on April 4, 2012 when she reportedly sideswiped a police car and was arrested for driving under the influence.
Bynes was accused of hitting a car in San Fernando Valley less than a week later and another car on Ventura Boulevard on August 5.
Both times, Entertainment Weekly noted , Bynes fled the scene of the accident.
Bynes was charged with a DUI in June and was charged on two accounts of hit-and-run in September .
She pleaded not guilty to the DUI charges, appealing President Barack Obama via Twitter to fire the cop who arrested her. Her driver’s license was suspended after all three incidents.
Strange Fashion Choices
It isn’t just the pierced cheeks. Everything from her wardrobe to her hairstyle seems designed to make Bynes look like she has lost her marbles.
The Daily Mail reported that Bynes shaved half of her head in April to replace a mess of tangled extensions.
She has also been spotted strolling along the streets of New York City in outfits that look better suited for night clubs.
Although crazy clothes and ravewear outfits are perfect for festivals and parties, Bynes is showing that they do not work as well for running daily errands.
Bynes seems obsessed with having the perfect nose, and apparently she doesn’t mind publicly discussing her nose jobs.
Her first nose job occurred several years ago. Bynes told ABC News she had it done to remove webbing from in between her eyes.
Bynes got a second nose job last month, shortly after her arrest for throwing a bong out of her apartment window.
ABC News noted Bynes felt unsatisfied with how she looked in her mug shot and has another nose surgery scheduled for this summer.
On Wednesday evening, she took to Twitter to explain that the need for surgery:
“I was born with a webbing in between my eyes. That was a birth defect that I had surgically removed! I’ve never been more excited!
Now I need a few more surgeries to shave the bridge down to correct the rest of my nose so I can start the next chapter of my career! Music!
I consider myself to be a hero to have suffered 27 years with a birth defect and to just now have it surgically removed!
I had to share my story with you so the media would stop using old photos of me and stop writing lies about me having odd behavior when I was just embarrassed to share the fact that I had a birth defect. As soon as I had it removed I couldn’t wait to talk about it!
I’m having my next surgery on Saturday! My doctors are heroes who also correct kids who have cleft lip – something as traumatic as webbing in between your eyes!
I wanted to share my story with you to prove that I’m not crazy, I was just embarrassed. Surgery is a complete miracle for me – nothing can hold you back from living out your dreams. There’s a surgery for everything that’s wrong with you!”
There is no such thing as a dull tweet with Bynes. She has used Twitter to lash out at other celebrities who are concerned about her mental health and to post a series of strange thoughts and observations.
Targets of Bynes’ Twitter wrath include Jenny McCarthy, Lance Bass , Rhianna, and Miley Cyrus .
Many of her tweets have been in reaction to the celebs’ concerns over her mental health. Bynes has typically responded with a string of insults directed at the celebrity in question.
Twitter has also been Bynes’ tool of choice in trying to hook up with guys she thinks are hot. Earlier this month, Yahoo reported that Bynes tweeted how gorgeous she thought Liam Hemsworth is after the actor broke off his on-again engagement to Miley Cyrus.
