NYC // Basement Bhangra’s 16th Anniversary Bash @ Le Poisson Rouge | Apr. 4

Basement Bhangra

Basement Bhangra will celebrate 16 years as one of New York City’s longest-running, culturally diverse parties on April 4th at Le Poisson Rouge .

Founded by DJ Rehka , who Newsweek hails as “one of the most influential South Asians in the United States,” the event has been featured on various media outlets including The New York Times, Fader, Wall Street Journal, Paper Magazine, Japanese TV, CNN, Nightline, and NPR.

Driven by Bollywood beats, Basement Bhangra has showcased some of bhangra’s biggest names including Malkit Singh, Bally Sagoo, Bikram Singh, Hard Kaur, Apache Indian , and Panjabi MC .

Earlier this year, the party moved from its original home at SOBs to LPR, where it resumes a monthly edition on every first Thursday.

Its “Sweet Sixteen” will begin with Co-Lab , a curated series featuring eclectic talent at LPR’s Gallery Bar, followed by a Basement Bhangra Dance Lesson .

Then everyone will hit the dancefloor to sounds provided by DJ Rekha and guests DJ Rampage Global , DJ Gurps (US Debut), and Manak-E , while Fictive handles visuals.
