According to reports , electronic music duo Daft Punk , which consists of French musicians Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter , is heading for their first #1 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart

Their fourth studio album Random Access Memories , which was released on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, is currently on track to sell slightly over 300,000 copies by the end of the sales week, which is Sunday, May 26th.

If this does indeed happen, which I’m totally sure it will, the duo will hold the title of the second-largest debut week this year, following Justin Timberlake ‘s 968,000 for his third studio album The 20/20 Experience .

Also interesting, just the course of one week, this album will have sold more than Daft Punk’s last studio album Human After All .

To date, the album has shifted a total of 125,000 copies in the United States, which also serves as their lowest selling album to date.

The album’s success comes on the wing of its lead single Get Lucky ,” which features Pharrell Williams .

It has managed to jump from #15 to #10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart this week. Get Lucky serves as the duo’s first 10 single in their almost 20 year career, and is their third single to chart on the Hot 100 to date. Thoughts?
