The tour kicked off in Chicago before stopping at the five-time USA basketball gold medalist’s hometown high school in South Bend, Indiana.
“People were asking me ‘When you were younger, what drills did you do? What skills did you work on? How did you work out and how did you get to where you are?’ Well I just wanted to give campers an insider view of how Sky worked out when she was younger. People say ‘What drills did you do?’ these are the drills that and the people I worked out with,” says Diggins.
The camp not only teaches basketball skills, but also life skills, by encouraging kids to be the best they can be on and off the court.
“With me not play right now, this fulfills my basketball appetite,” says Diggins, who tore her ACL this summer. “Being able to help the kids and develop the next generation. We have people out here, my staff who really put their heart into it and really wants to get to know the kids and how they can help them.”
Diggins currently plays for The Shock, which recently moved to Dallas for the 2016 WNBA season and has changed their nickname to the Wings.
She will end “Shoot 4 The Sky” in Dallas in April after making stops in Cleveland, Detroit, New York City, D.C., Los Angeles, Portland, Houston, Indianapolis, and Tampa. See 2016 dates for the tour below and register at shoot4thesky.com.
