In Craig Zobel ‘s Z For Zachariah (2015), Margot Robbie ( Focus ), Chiwetel Ejiofor ( 12 Years a Slave ) and Chris Pine ( Star Trek ) get caught in a dangerous post-apocalyptic love triangle.

In U.S. theaters and On Demand on August 28, 2015 via Roadside Attractions, the emotionally-charged feature centers on Ann Burden (Margot), a village girl who survives a nuclear war and meets John Loomis (Chiwetel), a coldly rational scientist. As the two build a connection, Caleb (Chris) shows up and their bond begins to unravel.

The screenplay, adapted by Nissar Modi , deviates from Robert C. O’Brien ‘s 1974 science-fiction novel — off of which the film is based — with the addition of Caleb.

Z For Zachariah was a standout at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival , where it premiered on January 24, 2015.

Shot in New Zealand, the film was produced by Skuli Fr. Malmquist, Thor Sigurjonsson, Sigurjón Sighvatsson, Tobey Maguire, Matthew Plouffe , and Sophia Lin for Zik Zak Filmworks, Material Pictures, and Lucky Hat Entertainment. Roadside acquired distribution rights before its Sundance debut.

It was executive produced by Steve Bannatyne, Claudia Bluemhuber, Barry Brooker, Timothy Christian, Bill Johnson, Ryan R. Johnson, Jim Seibel, Stan Wertlieb , and Robby J. Williams .
