Angela Bassett & Kathy Bates to Return for ‘American Horror Story’ Season 4?

Angela Bassett & Kathy Bates as Marie Laveau and Madame Lalaurie in ‘American Horror Story: Coven’

Not only has FX ordered a fourth season of American Horror Story , but Angela Bassett and Kathy Bates may be returning for more grit, sass, and gore.

AHS: Coven’s Jessica Lange & Angela Bassett Serve Kathy Bates on a Platter for EW

The hit series’ co-creator Ryan Murphy had this to say in an interview with Entertainment Weekly :

“I have approached them and they wanna do it […] That’s very exciting when you can work with A.) actresses you’ve always idolized and B.) those two are loving this season. They love what they get to do. Kathy Bates sent the writers a basket of plush toys all in the shapes of disemboweled organs. It doesn’t get better than when an Oscar winner sends you a grab bag of stuffed pancreas to say ‘Thank you and job well done.’”

Now we’ll just have to keep our eyes open for official news! This update follows an announcement that Jessica Lange will not be returning to AHS after the fourth season.

With nine episodes left in the season, Coven averages 7.74 million total viewers per episode, outpacing last season by 83% in total viewers. It’s on track to record some of the strongest ratings of any program in FX history.
