Jeffrey Wright Joins Cast of HBO’s ‘Boardwalk Empire’ as Man Who Runs Harlem

Jeffrey Wright in ‘Ides of March’

One of my absolute favorite actors, Jeffrey Wright, will join the cast of HBO’s Boardwalk Empire, taking on a regular role during the upcoming fourth season of the popular series — currently being filmed.

He’ll play Valentin Narcisse — Doctor of Divinity, philanthropist, student of culture, and the man who runs Harlem.

The show, which is executive produced by Martin Scorsese, Mark Wahlberg, Tim Van Patten, Howard Korder, and Stephen Levinson, is set in Atlantic City, New Jersey during the Prohibition era.

Staring Steve Buscemi, the series is adapted from a book about historical criminal kingpin Enoch L. Johnson, titled Boardwalk Empire: The Birth, High Times, and Corruption of Atlantic City by Nelson Johnson.

Wright has starred in several award-winning HBO projects including the film, Boycott, where he played Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and won an AFI Award, and a mini-series, Angels In America, where he earned an Emmy and Golden Globe.

The actor has also just wrapped The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, and George Tillman Jr.‘s The Inevitable Defeat Of Mister And Pete, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January.
