‘Indian Summers’

Indian Summers , an epic retelling of the final years of British colonial rule in India, will arrive on DVD almost immediately after its PBS Masterpiece premiere in September.

The British drama will enter the network’s Fall 2015 primetime schedule on September 27 and hit DVD on October 13. It is available now for pre-order .

Originally debuting on UK’s Channel 4, Indian Summers is a 10-episode mini-series is set in 1932 against the sweeping grandeur of the Himalayas and tea plantations of Northern India.

It tells the rich and explosive story of the decline of the British Empire and the birth of modern India, from both sides of the experience.

But at the heart of the story lie the implications and ramifications of the tangled web of passions, rivalries and clashes that define the lives of those brought together in this summer which will change everything.

India dreams of Independence, but the British are clinging to power. In the foothills of the Himalayas stands Simla; a little England where every summer the British power-brokers of this nation are posted to govern during the summer months.

The series stars Henry Lloyd-Hughes ( The Inbetweeners ), Nikesh Patel ( Bedlam ), Jemima West ( The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones ), and Julie Walters ( Harry Potter ).

It was produced by Dan McCulloch for Channel 4, New Pictures, Biscuit Films, and PBS.

Executive producers were Simon Curtis, Rebecca Eaton, Charles Pattinson and Elaine Pyke .

Indian Summers premieres on Sunday, September 27, 2015 at 9:00 pm ET on PBS Masterpiece.
