‘Orange Is The New Black’ Season 3 Teaser

Netflix has announced that its top-performing original series Orange Is the New Black is set to return for a fourth season in 2016.

Created by Jenji Kohan , the Emmy Award nominated dramedy begins its third season on June 12, 2015.

Based on Piper Kerman ‘s 2011 memoir , the series centers on Piper Chapman (played by Taylor Schilling ), a bisexual New York woman sentenced to 15 months in a women’s federal prison for transporting a suitcase full of drug money to her now ex-lover Alex ( Laura Prepon ), who also ended up in the same prison.

Netflix released an official trailer for its forthcoming season last week, and a new clip on Wednesday (video below).

Orange Is the New Black received 12 Primetime Emmy Award nominations and won Outstanding Comedy Series at the 25th GLAAD Media Awards last year.

Actresses Kate Mulgrew and Uzo Aduba won Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series and Best Guest Performer in a Comedy Series, respectively at the 4th Critics’ Choice Television Awards.

Uzo also won Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series at the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards.

The show also stars Michael J. Harney, Danielle Brooks, Natasha Lyonne, Taryn Manning, Selenis Leyva, Adrienne C. Moore, Dascha Polanco, Nick Sandow, Yael Stone , Samira Wiley and Laverne Cox .

It is produced by Tilted Productions in association with Lionsgate Television.
