D’Angelo’s ‘Brown Sugar’ to be Reissued as 20th Anniversary Vinyl

In the 90s, D’Angelo , along with Maxwell and Erykah Badu , ushered neo-soul into the mainstream with his debut LP, Brown Sugar .

Though it has been unavailable for nearly 10 years, the vinyl is being reissued as a limited edition white-pressed 2xLP starting April 21st via MyPlayDirect for its 20th Anniversary.

Released on July 3, 1995, Brown Sugar debuted at #6 on the US Billboard Top R&B Albums chart in the week of July 22, 1995, and peaked at #4 in the week of February 24, 1996 on that chart.

Thanks to its four singles, it earn wide acclaim and spent 65 weeks on the Billboard 200 chart, where it peaked at #22.

On February 7, 1996, it was certified platinum, and as of 2010 total sales have been estimated within the range of 1.5 million to over two million copies.
