Grammy-nominated NYC-based songstress Emily King has premiered “Good Friend,” a soulful, uptempo groove that is sure to lift your spirits.

“If there’s something I need I don’t already have / I know I’ll get it from a good friend,” she gently croons over the Jeremy Most -produced track.

The song is expected to appear on Emily’s forthcoming yet-to-be-titled project, for which she’s collaborated with D’Angelo ‘s Black Messiah engineer Ben Kane . Stream and download it for free below.

It’s been nearly four years since Emily released her stellar Seven EP . The set followed her 2007 debut studio album East Side Story , which was nominated for a Grammy for Best Contemporary R&B Album in 2007.

In 2014, Emily released a soothing Motown-inspired single titled “ Distance ,” which received a music video directed by Paul Jung in April. Enjoy below.
