This post brought to you by Marriott International . All opinions are 100% mine.

Sinuous Magazine logo with definition It’s kinda hard to believe that in just two short months, Sinuous Magazine will be turning three years old! Frankly, it still feels like we’re just getting started.

Last summer we began the crucial transition from our original branding, “theComplex Media & Design Blog,” and made a complete design overhaul with a new logo and a fresh website design that would better showcase our eclectic content.

Since then we’ve been working REALLY hard to continue combining passions for both popular and lesser known cultures.

And despite what must have been a bit of confusion for our readers, they beared with us, and have been extremely supportive.

Of course, this journey hasn’t been without challenges: hosting server issues, Facebook’s ridiculous name change rules , drama between contributors and readers, Google’s evil leeching redesign that cut readership in half, etc.

Almost a year later, as I find myself once again at a personal crossroads, quite similar to the one I had when I launched the site as a solo project, persevering through the hiccups is paying off.

I’m reminded that we’re doing something right when I evaluate the amazing partnerships we have underway — most recently, Marriott’s phenomenal “Be You, With Us” campaign ( @MarriottForYou ), which sent me out to L.A. for the BET Awards to cover the show and after party.

I’m reminded that although we’re babies in this over-saturated space and still quite small, the site has become more than a place to share interests and opinions.

My team and I are moving closer to individual and collective goals, which for me means propelling Sinuous into the brand you see at every award show, and using it to springboard my arts-centered mentorship program in a few years.

In the meantime, I’m taking it all in and I look forward to updating you on what’s next!

I sincerely thank you for your love and your support,

Lanaé
