ADCOLOR Enlists Roots’ Drummer Questlove for “Color Adds Depth” 2012 Awards Campaign

?uesto drums up some 3D color in ADCOLOR ‘s new PSA for its 2012 ADCOLOR® Awards and Industry Conference , which will take place in Las Vegas at the infamous Bellagio Hotel on October 18th through the 20th.

The TBWA/Chiat/Day NY -created and Mark Zibert -directed spot features The Roots drummer picking out his signature ‘fro and going immediately into a percussion session that evokes color into the black and white clip, while he talks about his beginning influence: his father.

The “Color Adds Depth” campaign, which centers on diverse contributions to the advertising, marketing and media industries, also includes print media featuring CNN ‘s Soledad O’Brien , Charlie Gabriel ( Preservation Hall Jazz Band ), Glee star Harry Shum, Jr. and transgender activist Janet Mock .

The campaign’s use of 3D design elements serves as a metaphor for these industries, literally adding depth as color. “‘Color Adds Depth’ will show that diversity is not only integral to our industry, it’s what makes the world pop,” says Doug Melville , Chief Diversity Officer, TBWA Worldwide .

This year actor, philanthropist and entrepreneur Boris Kodjoe will receive the 2012 ADCOLOR All-Star Award in recognition of his exceptional work with his charity dedicated to his daughter Sophie , who suffers with Spina Bifida, as well as his contributions to film, TV, stage, business and media.

“We’re so thrilled to be honoring Mr. Kodjoe this year; deciding who to name All-Star is never an easy decision with so many game-changers out there, but after meeting with Boris, learning more about him and the amazing philanthropic work he does, I knew he really exemplified what we look for in an All-Star,” said Tiffany R.
