The legacy of Jean-Michel Basquiat (December 22, 1960 – August 12, 1988) continues to reach far and wide. The Skateroom has collaborated with the late Brooklyn artist’s estate to bring his work to a collection of exclusive skateboard decks.
The brand has previously incorporated artwork from the likes of Basquiat’s friend and mentor Andy Warhol , elusive street artist Banksy , and prolific Japanese artist Takashi Murakami .
Combining art, skateboarding, and a twist of philanthropy, proceeds from the skateboards support non-profit projects that empower children.
The Basquiat collection consists of three sets of three skateboard decks, which will be available online at theskateroom.com starting January 7th.
