The legacy of Jean-Michel Basquiat (December 22, 1960 – August 12, 1988) continues to reach far and wide. The Skateroom has collaborated with the late Brooklyn artist’s estate to bring his work to a collection of exclusive skateboard decks.
The brand has previously incorporated artwork from the likes of Basquiat’s friend and mentor Andy Warhol, elusive street artist Banksy, and prolific Japanese artist Takashi Murakami.
Combining art, skateboarding, and a twist of philanthropy, proceeds from the skateboards support non-profit projects that empower children.
The Basquiat collection consists of three sets of three skateboard decks, which will be available online at theskateroom.com starting January 7th.
