Lady Gaga’s Official Album Cover for ‘ARTPOP’
This may come to no surprise for some of you, at least to a certain extent, but it’s being forecast that Lady Gaga ‘s third studio album ARTPOP is set to debut at #1 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart.
Where does the extent part come from you ask? Well, unlike Born This Way , which sold 1.1 million in its first week, the album is set to earn around 260,000 copies by the end of the tracking week on Sunday, November 17th.
Previously, ARTPOP ‘s projected sales were around 300,000 to 350,000, and as Billboard stated once before, it’s difficult to project sales before an album is released, based on a multitude of variables.
Though it’s slightly low, given to today’s industry, it’s actually pretty good. The album will be near that of recent debuts from Katy Perry ‘s Prism (286,000) and Miley Cyrus ‘ Bangerz (270,000.)
Overall, ARTPOP will serve as the pop star’s fifth Top 10 set, following her debut studio album The Fame , which reached #2 in early 2010; The Fame Monster EP , which peaked at #5 in 2009; The Remix , which peaked at #6 in 2010; and as mentioned earlier, Born This Way , which debuted and peaked at #1.
ARTPOP ‘s lead single, “Applause,” is currently in its 13th consecutive week in the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. It has resided in the top 10 since its debut at #6 back in August. Thoughts?
