This week, electro-R&B songstress D∆WN (aka Dawn Richard) graced BBC Radio 1Xtra’s “Targé Menagé Live” with a cover of The Weeknd ‘s Fifty Shades of Grey hit “Earned It,” alongside UK rapper Bonkaz .

“Really love flipping great songs and making them mine,” Dawn tweeted Saturday morning . “Check out my twisted version of ‘earned it.'”

A darker succession to Dawn’s 2013 solo debut Goldenheart , Blackheart released on January 15, 2015 though her own Our Dawn Entertainment.

“‘Goldenheart’ put you on a battlefield in medieval times,” she told Billboard last year . “ ‘Blackheart’ will put you in a place where you’re stuck in a rainforest by yourself, and you realize that you have all this armor, but you have this blood on you as well.”

Supported by videos for Blow Tide: The Paradox Effect ,” Choices: The Interlude ,” Projection ,” and Calypso , the album peaked at #1 on US Top Independent Albums, #2 on US Dance/Electronic Albums, and #3 on US Top Heatseekers Albums charts.

Most recently, the singer-songwriter-dancer recently dropped a double visual for “Titans” and “James Dean.” Watch below.
