Renaissance woman Vashtie Kola and her clothing brand Violette have teamed up with PUMA for a debut Spring/Summer 2015 collection, available now in stores and online.
Inspired by New York City’s 80s b-boy era and 90s alternative scene, the collaboration consists of 17 unisex separates and 9 fresh twists on classic footwear.
“When PUMA reached out I was immediately interested in this collaboration as I grew up following the brand,” said Vashtie. “ As a child I was drawn toward skate boarding and alternative music and looked to PUMA for fashion trends. I’m excited to create this collection that pays homage to my childhood and New York’s underground scene.”
The New York-based film director, artist, designer, creative consultant and DJ launched Violette in 2008.
Under that brand she designed a limited, taxi-themed pair of Beats By Dre headphones in 2012. In 2014, Vashtie created a limited edition G-SHOCK timepiece .
For her Puma collection, photographer Eli Schmidt lenses a lookbook featuring Vashtie alongside model Luka Sabbat . The shoot is styled by Ian Reid , with hair and makeup by Tai Lotson .
