The Mexican-born Kenyan has seen a stellar award season for her big screen debut in 12 Years A Slave .

She has snagged 24 awards and recognitions, including an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress, becoming the sixth black actress to win the award, the first African actress to win the award, the first Mexican actress to win the award, and the first Kenyan to win an Oscar.

She also became the fifteenth actress to win an Oscar for their debut performance in a feature film.

As a fashion “it” girl and one of the faces for Miu Miu ‘s Spring 2014 campaign, we’re also losing count of her magazine covers, which include New York Magazine ‘s Spring 2014 Fashion Issue and Dazed & Confused .

She currently has a small role in mystery-thriller Non-Stop , alongside Liam Neeson and Julianne Moore .

The film premiered at #1 on February 28th, earning $28.9 million at the box office that weekend, and has so far grossed $71.5 million .
