In the intense first trailer for Season 3 of Showtime’s hit drama Ray Donovan, the Boston-raised, Hollywood fixer is trying to grow into more than a clean-up man. He wants power.
An opportunity to realize that goal comes when he meets Andrew Finney (played by Ian McShane), a movie producer and the wealthiest man in L.A. who hires Ray (Liev Schreiber) to keep an eye on his kids while he settles his affairs before retiring.
One of those “kids” is Paige (Katie Holmes), a shrewd businesswoman who, according to Finney, sees him less as a father and more as an opponent. That said, she puts her own offer on the table, and Ray gets tangled in their violent family feud.
Meanwhile, Ray’s own family drama continues: he’s separated himself from wife Abby (Paula Malcomson) as well as friends/colleagues Avi (Steven Bauer) and Lena (Katherine Moennig); brother Terry (Eddie Marsan) is still in prison where thugs are trying to kill him; and ex-con dad (Jon Voight) wants to employ his own methods of getting Terry out.
The show’s third season will be its first without series creator Ann Biderman, whose two-year contract to serve as executive producer/showrunner was not renewed.
Watch a few teasers below and tune in to the Season 3 premiere on July 12 at 9/8 c on Showtime.
