Watch: ‘The Real’ Jump Starts Young Philanthropist’s Sock Drive for the HomelessOn Tuesday, the ladies of The Real surprised 11-year-old Jonas Corona and his charity Love In The Mirror with a gift for the homeless individuals he serves in the Los Angeles and Orange counties.
They supplied the amazing little humanitarian with 3,000 socks toward his 10,000 sock goal, which he hopes to complete during Love In The Mirror’s 6th Annual Sock Drive this November.
Jonas, who also supplies the homeless with other essentials (food, clothing, hygiene items, learning materials), said that socks are the #1 request among those lacking basic necessities.
Inspired by volunteering at shelters with his mom when he was four years old, Jonas launched Love In The Mirror in 2009.
Most recently, he and his non-profit were awarded the 2013 Long Beach Post 40 Under 40, 2013 Build-A-Bear Huggable Hero, 2013 Distinguished Honoree Prudential Spirit Awards and 2014 Kohl’s Cares Scholarship. They have also been featured on the TODAY Show.
