On August 14th, A Better Jamaica invites you to see a free screening of Ava DuVernay ‘s award-winning drama film Middle of Nowhere (2012) under the stars in Jamaica, Queens’ St. Albans Park .
The organization is celebrating its eighth year providing these free shows, “Family Movies in the Park (FMITP),” in Jamaica’s parks.
Now that Middle of Nowhere finally made its television premiere on BET this month, many are wondering what is taking so long for the film to be released to DVD and VOD.
The independent feature follows Ruby ( Emayatzy Corinealdi ), a promising medical school student who embarks on a journey of self-discovery after her husband Derek ( Omari Hardwick ) is sentenced to eight years in prison.
Also starring David Oyelowo and Lorraine Toussaint , the film won the Directing Award for U.S. Dramatic Film at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival .
