Common Taps Chicago Artists for ‘Nobody’s Smiling’ Album Artwork

In the video above, Common explains why he chose to feature Chicago artists such as Lil Herb, King Louie and Dreezy on the cover of his forthcoming 10th studio album Nobody’s Smiling .

Set to be released July 22nd via No I.D. ’s imprint ARTium/Def Jam, the album is inspired by the violence that has been rippling through the rapper/actor’s hometown, Chicago.

“It happens in Chicago, but it’s happening around the world in many ways,” said Common. “We was talking about the conditions of what’s happening, when I say ‘nobody’s smiling.’ But it’s really a call to action.”
