ScHoolboy Q ‘s latest music video for “Hoover Street” visualizes a journey for the rapper that makes us glad he turned to storytelling.

Directed by Yellow Nguyen and Moosa , the gritty clip follows a young and impressionable Q, who gets enticed by the gang violence within and outside of his Los Angeles home.

“Had roaches in my cereal / My uncle stole my stereo / My grandma can’t control him,” the emcee reveals in a sing-songy chorus. “But… Every last one of us had a pistol in the room, nigga…” he continues.

The East Coast-influenced track, which is produced by Sounwave of Digi+Phonics , serves as the fifth single from Q’s major label debut, Oxymoron .

Previously released singles are “Yay Yay,” “Collard Greens,” “Man of the Year,” “Break the Bank,” and “Studio.”

Q will soon wrap up the European leg of his Oxymoron World Tour , which ends in Manchester, UK on June 1st.
