Chinese model Liu Wen joins Joan Smalls on Forbes ‘ list of the highest paid models, becoming the first Asian model to do so!

She makes the top 10 along with Gisele Bundchen, Miranda Kerr, Kate Moss , and Candice Swanepoel , ranked at #5 for pulling in $4.3m last year — in part — thanks to her Estée Lauder contract.

Also breaking up the all-White lineup for this list is Joan who comes in at #8 with $3.5m. From TheGuardian :

“It’s not just the money they earn that puts these women in the big leagues.

On the influential industry website models.com Smalls is ranked No 1 while Wen is fifth (the chart’s rankings are based on buzz, industry popularity, magazine covers and so on).

Wen was the first Chinese model to feature in the Victoria’s Secret show, while Smalls became the first Hispanic model to score the lucrative Estée Lauder campaign.

Cara Delevingne may grab most of the headlines but Smalls and Wen, both aged 25, are quietly emerging as faces to define our age.”
