Watch: Ciara FADER June/July 2013 Behind The Scenes
Due July 5, 2013, Ciara is preceded by its lead single and the singer’s biggest hit in a while, “Body Party,” the album’s only ballad, which was co-written by boyfriend Future.
Described by Vibe as a “feel-good mid-tempo” electro-pop/r&b set similar to Ciara’s 2004 Goodies debut, the album features appearances by Nicki Minaj and Rick Ross, songs written by Planet VI and Wynter Gordon and production by Rodney Jerkins, Mike Will Made It and Soundz — to name a few.
Samples for the album include Kid ‘n Play‘s 1988 song “Rolling with Kid ‘n Play” on “Livin’ it Up” and Ghost Town DJ‘s 1996 single “My Boo” on “Body Party.”
“Body” debuted at #35 on the Billboard Hot 100 and peaked at #8 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, becoming Ciara’s first Top 40 on the chart since her 2009 single “Love Sex Magic,” featuring Justin Timberlake.
The album’s second single is the high-energy Minaj-assisted girls’-night-out anthem, titled “I’m Out,” which released to radio on June 7, 2013.
Just two songs in and it already it sounds like this is is the CiCi era we’ve been waiting on for a long time. Enjoy the lyric video below.
