Album Debuts: Fall Out Boy Takes #1 Spot, KiD CuDi & Yeah Yeah Yeahs Earn Career Highs

Billboard 200 - Fall Out Boy, KiD CuDi, Yeah Yeah Yeahs

Fall Out Boy takes the #1 spot on the Billboard 200, while KiD CuDi and The Yeah Yeah Yeahs make their biggest album debuts

Last week, we shared the news with you that Fall Out Boy and KiD CuDi were going head-to-head for the #1 spot on the Billboard 200 Albums chart, due to both acts getting off to a great start.

Well lovely readers, the numbers are in, and Fall Out Boy has managed to bump Paramore ‘s self-titled fourth studio album to the #12 spot on the chart.

Save Rock and Roll , serves as Fall Out Boy’s fifth studio album and has sold a total of 154,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan, making it the quartet’s third-biggest sales week ever.

Their third studio album, 2007′s Infinity on High is their best sales to date with 260,000, with From Under the Cork Tree’s 157,000 sales coming in second, thanks to the Christmas holiday sales frame.

KiD CuDi debuts at #2 on the chart with his third studio album Indicud , selling 136,000 copies in its first week.

Initially, industry sources forecasted that both albums could sell around 150,000, but CuDi fell behind a bit once the weekend hit, and Fall Out Boy pulled ahead by the end of the tracking week on Sunday, April 21.

This may be the rapper’s second best debut sales to date, but it’s his highest debut on the chart.

2010′s Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager debuted at #3 with sales of 169,000 copies during its first week of release, and his debut album, Man on the Moon: The End of Day debuted at #4 104,000 copies in its first week.

As mentioned earlier, Paramore tumbles down from #1 to #12 in its second week, moving 27,000 copies with a 74% drop in sales.

It’s the second #1-debuting album to fall straight out of the top 10 in its second week this year, with Chris Tomlin ‘s Burning Lights falling to #22 on the Feb. 2-dated chart.

As far as the tp 10 goes, Justin Timberlake ‘s 20/20 Experience is steady at #3 with 76,000 copies sold this week, while Blake Shelton ‘s Based On a True Story holds the #4 spot with 42,000.

Rock band The Yeah Yeah Yeahs has earned their first top 10 entry, as well as their highest charting album ever with their fourth studio album Mosquito selling 38,000 copies — just enough to put them in the #5 position.

This isn’t the best sales week for the band however. Their second album, 2006′s Show Your Bones debuted at #11 with 56,000 copies.

Mosquito is the third and final top 10 new entry this week, as the next-highest entry belongs to Christian rap artist Andy Mineo , who starts at #11 with his debut studio set Heroes for Sale , with 28,000 copies.

Summing up the rest of the top 10, we have The Band Perry ‘s Pioneer at #6 with 37,000; Brad Paisley ‘s Wheelhouse at #7 with 34,000; Lil Wayne ‘s I Am Not a Human Being II stationary at #8 with 31,000; Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ The Heist returns to the top 10 at #9 with 30,000 thanks to their MTV Movie Awards performance on April 14th; and closing out the top 10 is P!nk ‘s The Truth About Love with 28,000.
