Justin Bieber has earned his fifth #1 album on the Billboard 200 Albums chart with his latest release, Believe Acoustic.
The album managed to sell a total of 211,000 copies according to Nielsen SoundScan. He serves as the only artist to have notched #1 albums before turning 19 years old and was previously tied with Miley Cyrus, who had a total of four #1’s before turning 19.
The album also gives the overrated singer a #1 album in four consecutive years — something only nine earlier acts have done in the nearly 57-year history of the Billboard 200 chart.
The album, which features eight acoustic and/or live tracks originally found on his Believe studio album as well as three new recordings: “Yellow Raincoat,” “I Would” and “Nothing Like Us,” performed strongly with digital retailers, as 75% of its sales were generated by downloads
That robust digital share was expected, thanks in part to strong pre-orders via iTunes.
In other Bieber news, he is currently on the Believe Tour, which kicked off on September 29, 2012. The tour has received negative reviews from music critics, but that hasn’t stopped it from selling out every a arena it has visited so far. Thoughts?
