Jenni Rivera, whose tragic death shook the Latin music community in December, covers the March 2013 issue of Latina Magazine.
“La Diva de la Banda,” known as a singer-songwriter, actress, producer and entrepreneur, died at just 43-years-old along with six others in a plane crash near Iturbide, Nuevo León, México on December 9, 2012.
Gone but never forgotten, the chart-topping Mexican American icon and reality-TV star is remembered as a superstar who overcame teenage motherhood and domestic abuse.
She redefined the image of Latin women in entertainment, while also raising five children and steering her own empire of music, TV, film, real estate, and philanthropy.
The March 2013 issue hits newsstands on February 12.
In other Jenni news, she is up for 11 Latin Billboard Awards, tying her with Romeo Santos and Wisin & Yandel.
With album sales skyrocketing after her death, she is this year’s leading female finalist — competing with herself in several categories.
Her 2011 release, Joyas Prestadas (Pop) is up for Album of the Year and Latin Pop Album of the Year, while 2012’s La Misma Gran Señora also competes for Album of the Year and Regional Mexican Album of the Year — where 2011’s Joyas Prestadas (Banda) is also nominated.
See the full list of finalists, lead by Don Omar with 18 nods. The ceremony will place April 22-24 at the JW Marriot Marquis in Miami.
