I have some interesting news about Wiz Khalifa‘s latest album O.N.I.F.C., according to industry sources and Billboard, the album is being forecasted to sell between 135,000 to 145,000 copies by the end of the tracking week on Sunday, December 9th.
While it will serve as the highest debut on the chart, it may not be be enough to capture the top slot though, as Taylor Swift‘s Red and Rod Stewart‘s Merry Christmas, Baby, both of which challenge Khalifa for the #1 spot.
This comes as great news for Mr. Khalifa, but it’s a little disappointing for Ke$ha. Her latest offering Warrior, is expected to sell between 75,000 to 80,000 in its first week. This is a big downfall from her 152,000 debut with Animal on the week of January 23, 2010.
It’s very normal for many holiday albums to see big gains on the charts during this time, since it’s closer to Christmas, and after the Thanksgiving week slump.
O.N.I.F.C. is Wiz‘s fourth album (second from a major label) and follows last year’s Rolling Papers, which debuted at #2 with sales of 197,000 according to Nielsen SoundScan, thanks in part to the success of his #1 Billboard Hot 100 single “Black and Yellow.” Thoughts?
