The Rivalry Continues: The Wanted Wants to Release Two Studio Albums in 2013

The Wanted

There is no denying the fact that UK boy bands One Direction and The Wanted are rivals, no matter how much they do or do not get along. Boy bands rivaling goes all the way back to the ’70s, and who can forget the epic ’90s saga of Team Backstreet Boys vs Team ‘NSYNC?

While they may be rivals, it’s pretty obvious that One Direction currently has a bigger fanbase, at least here in the United States. Both of their studio albums, Up All Night and Take Me Home, managed to debut at #1 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart, but The Wanted is ready to make their mark.

In a recent interview with Billboard, the band revealed that next year could yield a pair of new full-lengths of their own. Take a look at what Tom Parker had to say below:

“I think we’re going to do two albums, one in April and one towards the end of the year, because we’ve written quite a lot of songs this year. We didn’t get to release one at this end of this year so it’s probably going to squeeze to next year, hopefully.”

After releasing their debut EP in April, a full-length studio album, was expected, but things didn’t quite work out. Jay McGuiness stated:

“It was meant to be this Christmas, but it wasn’t ready yet so… we’re thinking around April, we’ll have something ready.”

Whenever it’s released, the new album will feature the single I Found You,” which serves as the currently untitled album’s lead single. So far the song has managed to reach #11 on the US Hot Dance Club Songs chart and #89 on the US Billboard Hot 100.
