Taylor Swift’s ‘Red’ Dominates With Over A Million in Sales

Just as expected, Taylor Swift‘s fourth studio album Red has managed to debut at #1 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart with a total of 1.208 million copies sold in its first week according to Nielsen SoundScan — marking the eighth-largest sales week for an album since SoundScan started tracking sales in 1991. The album has also reached at #1 on the Country Albums chart.

Red has also earned the title of biggest sales week for any album in over a decade, with the last title to ring up a larger sum being Eminem‘s The Eminem Show, which sold 1.322 million in its first full week at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart dated June 15, 2002.

Wanna know a little fun fact about the sales of Red? Well two copies were sold every single second last week in the United States, with a total of 604,800 seconds during the SoundScan selling week between 12 AM on Monday, Oct. 22 and 11:59 PM on Sunday, Oct. 28 (my mom’s 42nd birthday!!!)

Thanks to its amazing start and wonderful debut, the album serves as the third biggest selling album of the year behind Adele‘s 21 (4.114 million) and One Direction‘s Up All Night (1.316 million). Thoughts?
