The next Que Bajo!? party will bring us sabrosura from Afro-Colombia to Africa via Colombia’s Explosion Negra and Lido Pimienta, and Akwaaba‘s DJ B-Brave. QB resident Uproot Andy will be m.i.a this edition, but Geko Jones will be holding down the fort!
Explosión Negra incorporates Afro-Colombian Pacific folklore in a hip-hop and dancehall style from the barrios Chocoanos de Medellín. Staying true to their musical roots in Colombia’s Pacific coastal region, the group combines such rhythms as chirimia, currulao and porro with modern dancefloor elements.
From the Caribbean coast of Colombia to Toronto Canada, Lido is a dramatic singer making beautiful electronic music with one foot still in La Guajira. She has proven to be one of the most relevant acts in Latin Alternative music, gaining the attention of established musicians like Micachu and the Shapes, Julieta Venegas and Javiera Mena.
Originally from Paris and now running the refreshing and important label Akwaaba out of Accra, Ghana — B-Brave is a connoisseur of the new wave of African dance music coming from all over the continent!
