That Whitney reign just won’t let up, will it? According to Billboard, a new greatest hits album from the late singer is set to be released in the fall of this year on RCA Records! Though there currently is no tracklisting, release date or title, it’s been stated that it will serve as the first compilation to span her entire career and include the familiar hit versions of her Billboard chart-topping singles.
Her first greatest hits set, the 36 track Whitney: The Greatest Hits, which was released in 2000, featured some of her greatest ballads but substituted her pop and dance-pop songs with remixes. The album has sold a total of 2.6 million copies in the U.S. according to Nielsen SoundScan, 836,000 being sold this year after her shocking and sad death back in February.
In her career, which spanned over 25 years, the singer and actress managed to pull 39 hit singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, 11 of them making it to the #1 spot.
I’m excited for this. My grandma bought her first greatest hits album back in 2000 when it came out, and though I liked it, I really wanted the original versions of the pop tracks. I’m glad to finally be getting that!
