Nicki Minaj‘s “Pound the Alarm” gets a festive Trini Carnival-style video treatment. Directed by Benny Boom, the visuals were captured last month in Trinidad’s capital, Port of Spain, at Queen’s Park Savannah — emulating the country’s largest tourist attraction.
The hype dance-pop song serves as the official fourth single from her certified platinum second studio album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, which was released in April. “Pound the Alarm” is also the second international single from the album, and has so far managed to peak at #16 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart and #39 on the US Pop Chart.
I love that Nicki went back to her Trinidadian roots for the video and it seems that everyone involded had a great time filming it. Though I wasn’t expecting the video to take place in Trinidad, I was hoping for an energetic, party, club-like theme, so the video does much needed justice for the song. Watch the video below!
