With the 2012 BET Awards coming right around the corner, the network gave Mashable an exclusive look at its first interactive app which incorporates gaming, high quality multimedia and social media.
The app features a clickable timeline of the past 11 years of the BET Awards with HD videos, photos and more that can be shared on Facebook and Twitter.
Users can also find in-depth celebrity profiles, as well as curated tweets and videos. A Tweetmap shows where app users are tweeting from, similar to BET’s 106 & Park app.
Games like Too Big to Pick lets users vote for nominees by shooting disks into a moving goal with the slide of a finger. The app’s fantasy football-style game, The Line-Up, lets people predict the order of the show’s performers and then compare their lists with friends and celebrities. Both games allow players to share their scores and line-ups to Facebook and Twitter.
“We knew we wanted to make voting fun,” says Brandon Lucas, BET’s VP of mobile.
